Picatinny Assists - Tractor Trailer
Rollover Rt. 15 |

Rockaway NJ:
In the early hours of
Wednesday August 17th Picatinny Fire Department was
dispatched for Haz-Mat Operations at a scene of a
Tractor Trailer Rollover on Rt. 15 near the
entrance of the Base. Picatinny
Firefighters assisted Rockaway Twp. Fire
Department in spill containment. The Driver is
the Truck was taken to a local hospital. The accident remains under investigation. -

Roxbury NJ:
In the early hours of Monday
June 20th Picatinny Fire department was
dispatched for HazMat Operations at a scene of a
MVA on Rt. 80 near Exit 25.
Picatinny Firefighters assisted Roxbury Fire
department in spill containment and material
assessment. One Fatality was reported and
the accident remains under investigation. -

Rockaway Twp., NJ:
This
afternoon traffic was reduced to a stand still
as the southbound lanes of Rt. 15 on the border
of Jefferson Twp, Rockaway Twp. and Picatinny
Arsenal Military base were closed when a tractor
trailer and a car collided. The vehicles
proceeded in 2 different directions. The Truck
snapped a telephone pole in half and left a
diesel and oil slick all over the highway as it
rested in the woods. The car rested in the grass
median. Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department
responded to the scene and provided HazMat and
Engine Company operations. The cause of the
accident is still under investigation and the
occupants of the tractor trailer and the car
were transported to the hospital. -

Picatinny Fire Department Received Hazmat Robot |
Rockaway NJ:
The Picatinny Fire Department is one of the leading Hazmat
Response Departments in the Northern New Jersey Area. The Fact that they
are Department of Defense, they have been given a prototype Hazmat
Response Robot called the Talon. The talon has many features that have
been tailored for Hazmat response. These Features include;
an APD2000 Chemical/Biological meter, a
Draeger multi-gas meter, laser temperature detection and a manipulative arm with
a griping claw. It features 4 cameras with the ability to record, all the
readings from the meters are logged into a Palm pilot device and the entire unit
is intrinsically safe and waterproof to 90 feet. It is the First Hazmat capable
unit of its kind.
